01 Purpose and actual arrangements

This page describes the preservation and continuity arrangements confirmed for Jurnal Sosiologi Agama Indonesia (JSAI) below. It distinguishes present services from future plans. A commitment to preserve content is not evidence that deposits have already succeeded. Readers should be able to identify the provider, content covered and any limitations without relying solely on a logo or installed plugin.

02 Operational backups

Backups support recovery of the journal’s application, files and database after accidental loss or technical failure. Their usefulness depends on appropriate access controls, separate storage and tested recovery procedures. The confirmed statement should describe the practical arrangements without exposing credentials, private paths or security-sensitive infrastructure. An ordinary backup is not the same as independent long-term preservation.

03 Long-term preservation and coverage

Where a preservation service is in operation, the journal identifies its name, evidence of participation and the years or issues covered. Participation may depend on eligibility, agreements and successful deposits. The service’s terms determine how preserved content is made available after a trigger event; this page must not promise recovery or public access beyond those arrangements.

04 Deposit checking and omissions

Journal staff should check deposit results and investigate missing files, incomplete issue coverage or failed transfers rather than treating plugin activation as completion. The published statement should acknowledge known gaps. Corrections or replacement files may require additional deposits according to the provider’s process; a successful old deposit does not prove that the latest version is preserved.

05 Continuity if publication stops

The confirmed plan should explain who is responsible for maintaining access or coordinating a transfer if the journal or publisher ceases operation. Include any relevant service trigger conditions and limits. Persistent identifiers and links should be maintained where feasible. A future plan must be labelled as such and must not be described as an already functioning preservation guarantee.

06 Author copies and enquiries

Authors should retain their research records and permitted manuscript copies in accordance with institutional and repository requirements. Personal copies supplement but do not replace the journal’s preservation arrangements. Questions about a missing issue or preserved version should include its identifier and publication year. The editorial office should explain the verified position and update this statement when arrangements change.

07 Journal-specific provisions — retained content

Jurnal Sosiologi Agama Indonesia (JSAI) is committed to maintaining the long-term accessibility, integrity, and recoverability of its published scholarly content.

Digital preservation covers published articles, issue records, bibliographic metadata, supplementary files, and post-publication notices that form part of the journal’s scholarly record.

Online Archive

All published issues and articles are maintained in the journal’s online archive through the Open Journal Systems platform. Each published article remains accessible through its official article page and retains its bibliographic identity, publication history, and DOI where assigned.

Published content will not be removed solely because of changes in journal management, website design, server infrastructure, domain, or publishing platform.

Backup and Recovery

The publisher and responsible institutional technology unit maintain procedures for backing up the journal database, published files, uploaded materials, and essential system configurations.

Backup and recovery procedures are intended to support restoration of the journal following technical failure, data corruption, security incidents, platform migration, or accidental loss.

DOI and Metadata Continuity

JSAI maintains the bibliographic and DOI metadata of its published articles. A DOI assigned to an article will not be reused for another publication.

Changes to the journal website, domain, server, or publishing platform should preserve DOI resolution, article metadata, publication dates, volume and issue information, and access to the official publication record.

Preservation and Continuity

JSAI maintains regular backups of journal files, article metadata, published PDFs, and the journal database through the institutional publishing infrastructure of Universitas Islam Negeri Ar-Raniry. Backup copies are stored separately from the active journal installation to support recovery in the event of technical failure, data loss, platform migration, or journal discontinuation.

External Preservation Services

JSAI may use a recognized external preservation network or institutional repository to strengthen the long-term preservation of its published content.

Participation in PKP Preservation Network, LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, or another preservation service will be stated publicly only after the journal has verified that its content is actively deposited and preserved through that service.

Platform Migration and Service Interruption

During a server, domain, or platform migration, the journal will take reasonable measures to preserve published files, issue and article records, author and bibliographic metadata, DOI resolution, article history, supplementary materials, and post-publication notices.

A temporary interruption of the journal website does not alter the publication status, DOI, copyright, license, or bibliographic identity of a published article.

Journal Discontinuation

If JSAI ceases publication, the publisher will make reasonable efforts to maintain public access to previously published content through the existing journal archive, an institutional repository, a successor platform, or a verified preservation service.

Integrity of the Scholarly Record

Digital preservation does not permit undocumented alteration of published content. Any substantive post-publication change must follow the journal’s Corrections, Retractions, Withdrawals, and Expressions of Concern Policy and remain traceable through the official publication record.
