01 Ownership and permission to publish

The journal-specific statement below identifies copyright ownership and the permissions granted to Jurnal Sosiologi Agama Indonesia (JSAI) for publication. Authors must have authority to submit their work and agree to the applicable publication terms. The journal’s website design, theme software and article content are different works; a software or website licence must not be mistaken for the licence of an article.

02 Identifying the applicable licence

Check the licence name, version and official link on the particular article and its full-text file. If these disagree, ask the editorial office to clarify rather than assuming the broadest permission. The confirmed journal terms should describe reuse accurately. The applicable licence and ownership are those expressly confirmed below and on each article.

03 Attribution and reuse

Reusers must follow the terms that apply to the material, including attribution and any conditions for adaptations or redistribution. Keep enough bibliographic information to identify the original work and its licence. Do not imply that the authors or journal endorse a reuse. Where a proposed use falls outside the permission granted, seek the necessary permission from the relevant rights holder.

04 Third-party material and other rights

Figures, photographs, instruments or extracts may have separate credit lines and permissions. Authors should identify exclusions from the article licence and retain evidence of permission where required. A copyright licence does not by itself resolve privacy, confidentiality, trademark or participant-consent issues. Consult the relevant notices before reusing identifiable images or sensitive material.

05 Author sharing and repositories

The confirmed arrangements should distinguish the submitted manuscript, accepted manuscript and published version, including any deposit conditions or embargo. Authors should use the appropriate version and include a link to the published record where available. Do not infer permission for every version merely because one version is openly accessible. Repository requirements should be checked against the applicable agreement.

06 Existing articles and clarification

Updating this page does not retrospectively replace the licence of an existing article. Errors in a rights statement need documented editorial clarification with the rights holder, not a silent blanket change. Readers and authors can contact the editorial office with an article identifier and the specific permission question. Disputed rights may require advice beyond the journal’s editorial authority.

07 Journal-specific provisions — retained content

Copyright Ownership

Authors retain copyright in articles published by Jurnal Sosiologi Agama Indonesia (JSAI). By publishing an article in JSAI, the authors grant the journal and its publisher a non-exclusive right of first publication and the continuing right to reproduce, publish, distribute, archive, preserve, index, display, transmit, and communicate the article in formats and media necessary for scholarly publication and dissemination.

Open-Access License

All articles published by JSAI are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) International License, unless a different licensing arrangement is required by law or expressly agreed in writing and clearly identified on the article page and within the published article.

Permitted Uses

Under this license, users may copy, share, distribute, display, adapt, translate, and build upon the published material, provided that all applicable license conditions are satisfied:

Attribution: appropriate credit must be given to the author or authors, the article title, JSAI, the year of publication, and the DOI or permanent article link.
NonCommercial: the material may not be used primarily for commercial advantage or monetary compensation without separate permission from the copyright holder.
ShareAlike: adaptations must be distributed under the same or a compatible license.
Indication of Changes: users must indicate whether the original material has been modified, translated, abbreviated, or otherwise adapted.
No Additional Restrictions: users may not apply legal terms or technological measures that prevent others from exercising the rights granted by the license.

Author Rights

Because authors retain copyright, they may:

use the article in teaching, presentations, seminars, and non-commercial academic activities;
include the article in a thesis, dissertation, institutional research report, or academic portfolio;
deposit the published Version of Record in an institutional or subject repository;
share the published article through personal or institutional academic websites;
reuse parts of the article in later scholarly work with appropriate citation to the original publication;
present or distribute the article for non-commercial scholarly purposes; and
enter into additional non-exclusive arrangements that remain consistent with the journal’s license and publication record.

Right of First Publication

JSAI receives the non-exclusive right of first publication. The published article must identify JSAI as the original place of publication and preserve the official citation, DOI, bibliographic metadata, and license notice in subsequent distributions or authorized republications.

Repository and Self-Archiving

Authors may deposit the submitted manuscript, accepted manuscript, or published Version of Record in personal, institutional, or subject repositories, provided that the deposited version:

identifies the article’s publication status;
includes the complete citation to the published article;
includes the DOI or permanent link to the official article page;
retains the copyright and license notice; and
does not misrepresent a manuscript version as the final Version of Record.

Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted tables, figures, photographs, research instruments, datasets, maps, lengthy quotations, screenshots, archival materials, or other third-party content when such use is not covered by an applicable legal exception or open license.

Third-party material that is not included under the article’s Creative Commons license must be clearly identified through an appropriate credit line. Users seeking to reuse such material must obtain permission directly from the relevant copyright holder.

Author Warranty

By submitting and publishing a manuscript, the corresponding author confirms on behalf of all authors that:

the manuscript is original and does not unlawfully infringe the rights of another person or organization;
all listed authors have approved the submission and the final version;
all third-party material has been appropriately cited and, where required, used with permission;
the article has not been published elsewhere in substantially the same form without transparent disclosure;
the authors have authority to grant JSAI the stated publication rights;
the manuscript complies with applicable ethical, legal, confidentiality, and data-protection requirements; and
the authors accept responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and lawful publication of the work.

Commercial Reuse

Commercial reuse that is not permitted under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license requires prior written permission from the relevant copyright holder. JSAI cannot grant permission for material whose copyright is held by an author or third party unless JSAI has been expressly authorized to do so.

License Changes

Any future change to the journal’s standard license will apply prospectively unless authors and rights holders expressly agree otherwise. The license attached to a published article at the time of publication remains part of that article’s publication record.

License Consistency

The copyright holder and license stated on the article PDF, article landing page, journal website, Crossref metadata, repository records, and external indexing services should remain consistent. Where an inconsistency is identified, JSAI will verify and correct the relevant publication or metadata record.
